Review

Renowned for its ‘barefoot luxury’ experience, Nsolo is a bushcamp that focuses on incredible walking safaris with stunning and authentic safari accommodation. Located on the banks of the remote and seasonal Luwi River, this camp works perfectly combined with the sister properties in the Norman Carr portfolio including Mchenja and Chinzombo.

Location

Nsolo is located north of the Mfuwe area and sits on the Luwi River - a tributary of the mighty Luangwa River. Depending on the time of year, the Luwi River is usually dry although there may be a few small pools of water remaining in the riverbed – a haven for passing animals, particularly lion and wild dog populations as there is a pride that often a route from the Nsefu sector.

Layout

Nsolo is a bushcamp which opens between May and November. It is one of the smallest bushcamps in South Luangwa – with only four thatched chalets built around beautiful trees and raised on timber decks. The main area has a riverside view with a relaxed ambiance throughout the lounge, bar area and private verandas.

Rooms

The suites are sat on a raised wooden platform and feature open-air en-suite bathrooms. The rooms combine indoor and outdoor living, incorporating trees and natural features.

Activities

The camp focuses on game walks. The Luwi River has good lion and wild dog population – a few lion prides use the dry riverbed to find their prey. The camp focuses on walking safaris but day and night drives are also available across the riverine woodland and open plains.

Perfect for those wanting to focus on walking safaris
