Best of Southern Tanzania
A look at the road less traveled in Tanzania
This is a great little safari itinerary that takes in two of Tanzania and Africa's least visited but, in our opinion, best paired parks. The riverine Selous offers walking and boating safaris in stunning surroundings, while Ruaha offers a glimpse of raw Africa and one of Africa's famous match ups...lion versus buffalo!
Fly to Dar es Salaam
Fly to Dar es Salaam international airport and met on arrival.
Siwandu Camp, Selous GR
Met on arrival and flown out to the Selous Game Reserve to stay in the Siwandu Camp for 3 nights on a full board basis. This intimate and interesting camp is set in the Siwandu region of the park, looking out across the mighty Rufiji River, as it snakes its way to the ocean.
A great camp for a few nights, it offers real luxury tented accommodation with full ensuite facilities, a shower under the stars, and some exceptional, African service!
Activities: walking, boating, driving safaris
Jongomero Tented Camp, Ruaha NP
Fly from the Selous to Ruaha National Park in the morning. Met and transferred to Jongomero Luxury Tented Camp to stay for 3 nights on a full board basis. Located down in the south of the park, Jongomero is set out on its own, a fact that is really reflected in the game around the area.
Each of the tents gives a feeling of being out in the elements and so gives a feeling of how it once was to explore this parched and vital land.
Activities: walking, driving
Boutique Hotel Matlai, Zanzibar Beaches
Fly out of Ruaha via the Selous and Dar to Zanzibar (approx. 3 hours flying time). Met on arrival and transferred to Boutique Hotel Matlai to stay for 5 nights on a full board basis including soft drinks.
Located on the south eastern side of the island, Matlai is a great news property that has opened up on this secluded little beach and offers exceptional service and value for money.
Jafferji House, Stone Town
Drive in the morning to Stone Town to stay for the night in Jafferji House on a B&B basis. This area of the world is infamous for its past, the slave trading and the Arab influence that is still etched everywhere. We recommend at least a couple of hours to all our clients, wandering through the myriad of small alleyways, soaking up this vibrant lifestyle!
Fly home
Transferred back to Zanzibar Airport to fly to Dar es Salaam and connect onto international flights home.
Please note that the above is on a full board basis unless otherwise shown and does NOT include international flights.
