Rwanda Honeymoon
A memorable and unique honeymoon destination...
Whilst trekking through the misty mountains in search of a family of wild mountain gorillas isn’t the norm for a honeymoon, it’s definitely one that would be extraordinarily memorable! If you are after a more adventurous honeymoon in a country rated one of the friendliest on the planet, Rwanda is a great choice. In this section, we have put together some information for you to consider for a Rwanda honeymoon.
Budget
Certainly the trickiest topic of all in the planning process, a Rwanda honeymoon is not the cheapest of destinations. This is predominantly down to the increased cost of the Rwanda gorilla permits, which now sell at $1,500 per person per trek. Although the permit cost remains the same year-round, and there is no flexibility on this cost, there are other ways of making a Rwanda honeymoon a little more affordable. The first is to travel to Rwanda during low season (March to May). Although the heavy rains can make the gorilla trek more challenging, the advantage of heading this time of year is that the gorillas usually reside lower on the slopes of the forest, so the actual distance you walk may be much shorter than other times of the year. Secondly, whilst there are a handful of high-end properties in Rwanda, there are many affordable hotels that can offer a similar level of service and overall experience. As the Volcanoes National Park is only a 2-hour drive from Kigali, it is also possible, and quite popular, to travel to and from the capital for a day’s hike with the gorillas. There is a selection of affordable hotels in Kigali, so it is definitely an option to consider. Please also note that we offer a price guarantee on all of our trips that mean you will definitely be paying less using us than by booking everything directly with the properties yourself and, as an industry leader, we also guarantee that we will match any like for like quote that we receive.
Where to go?
There are a few properties in Rwanda that offer a completely unique experience, especially for honeymooners! Properties like Sayinyo Silverback Lodge and Bisate Lodge are both high-end lodges in the Volcanoes National Park, that offer the most exquisite views, service and general experience… not to mention dramatic backdrops of the Virunga volcanoes. Although they come with quite a price tag, they are definitely properties to consider if you are looking to go all out for your honeymoon.
