Manta Resort

Location

Manta Resort is situated in the far north-west of Pemba – a relatively undeveloped island, sat north of Zanzibar. With few properties to choose from on Pemba, Manta Resort is a good choice for those looking for something completely remote, secluded and special. With a fraction of tourists and much fuller vegetation, Pemba is a good idea for those looking for something different, particularly those interested in diving!

Layout

Manta Resort has a total of 18 rooms (seafront villas and garden rooms), and of course, the extraordinary underwater room. The room types vary in size, location and design – the seafront villas are much more spacious and are located closer to the ocean, and the garden rooms are set further back among the gardens.

Activities

The Manta Resort offers a range of activities to its guests, including sandbank trips, deep sea fishing, local school trips, catch and release fishing, kayak safaris, and snorkeling for conservation. Pemba is renowned for its diving, so of course, there is a dive centre available with everything you’ll need – from diving course material to professional diving equipment.

Underwater room

The underwater room at the Manta Resort is incredibly unique and special – perfect for those looking for a night to never forget! Anchored 250m off the shore of Pemba Island is a timber structure that features an underwater bedroom (with a double bed), a comfortable lounge area on the landing deck, and a day bed that sits on the top of the structure… so you really can feel on top of the world, and below the ocean in the same day! Schools of fish swim regularly past the bedroom windows so you can thoroughly enjoy the underwater world from the comfort of your bed!
