After bursting onto the safari circuit in 2007, Onsea House has really shaken up the regular Arusha options and is still very much leading the way as far as we are concerned. This quaint little guesthouse is located on the way out of Arusha and looks out to the slopes of Mount Meru. Warmly managed by Axel (who is the son of the owner and also a very accomplished chef), their biggest selling point (apart from the attention to detail, service etc) is that they provide some of the very best dining in East Africa.

A few years ago there was a real dearth of good places to stay in and around Arusha with, arguably, only the Arusha Coffee Lodge really filling the position properly…but even this was a high price to pay. Until Onsea House came along!

Not over exaggerating, we really do think it is the pick of the bunch, and by quite a long way. What Onsea House have managed to combine is great accommodation - the rooms are fairly simple, with natural woods used in a contemporary design, but all have balconies and have views, great service – there is a warm and inviting atmosphere here, and great dining – with Axel and his cooking being the mainstay of this.

Throw on top of this the location, the value for money and the fact that this is a property that gives back both locally and in Tanzania as a whole, and you have a truly fantastic package that goes a long way to showing others how it should be done!

It was great to spend a night in Onsea house - great to relax and get over the flight and food was incredible. SO pleased we did that otherwise we would have felt really rough for the first day on safari. Great first day and night.

Definitely the nicest property in Arusha. We have stayed at the Arusha Coffee Lodge on previous visits and this was superior in terms of comfort of room and certainly style of dining and general ambience.
