Review

Green and Blue is a brand new offering to the island and it shares the same beach as the nearby Matemwe Main. One of the main features of the hotel is the stilted dining area that affords stunning views across the white sand beach to the beautiful island of Mnemba. This focus also gives a bit of a hint as to one of the main features for Green and Blue…that of its exceptional menu and dining. On the whole, this is a great option at a good price!

Beach

As with many of the properties up on the northern parts of the island, the beach here is a little “tricky”, for want of a better word! Stunning at certain times of the day (when the tide is in between), it can also disappear as well as quadruple in size at times. Not a bad beach, but probably recommended for those wanting an occasional swim rather than to spend all their time.

Rooms

Good sized rooms in what is becoming the standard style for rooms at this level…small plunge pool, good sized balcony, reasonable sized room with seating area on the way in. Also included as standard is free wifi in the entire hotel and aircon in every room. The beachfront villa is, obviously, the stand out of them as it has 4 bedrooms all looking directly out to the sea and Mnemba Island!

Layout

Again, a little cramped but, with good, mature planting, they have managed to disguise this fairly well. There are quite a few rooms types in Green and Blue…most of which have an obscured view of the sea. As mentioned above, the villa is the pick of the bunch…but the main areas have also been well thought out with a great view across the Matemwe beach to Mnemba. Green and Blue also has a raised pool with a view that then cascades into the main pool that is set back and without the view.

Features

A real focus for Green and Blue will be on the food that they serve. With the Austrian equivalent of Michelin starred chefs, they are really planning to shake up how food is delivered on the island and there is certainly a buzz about what they will serve.
