Consistently one of our top sellers over the years, Matemwe Main gives you a feeling of intimacy and style, but without being over the top. The rooms are vast and all look out onto the azure waters of the Indian Ocean. The 'property also has all of the features that you would want in a hideaway, great pool, beautiful beach and secluded bar to sip away on a cocktail or two! Definitely up there as one of our recommended places to go.

Beach

As with many of the properties up on the northern parts of the island, the beach at Matemwe Main is a little “tricky”, for want of a better word! Stunning at certain times of the day (when the tide is in between), it can also disappear as well as quadruple in size at times. Not a bad beach, but probably recommended for those wanting an occasional swim rather than to spend all their time.

Rooms

The strongest point for Matemwe Main over the years has always been the vast size of the rooms. Leaving plenty of areas for relaxing, they all have great sea views and vast beds. On top of this they also all have a superb outdoor area with hammock and sofas for a bit of peaceful reading or afternoon relaxing.

Layout

With a good sized plot Matemwe Main have gone along rather than back…it means that all of the rooms have superb, unhindered views, but it does also mean that banda 11 is a good walk away from the main areas and the beach which is at the other end of the property. We still have a small bug bear about the windless bar that is set at the back but, otherwise it pretty much makes sense.
